FAQ - Co-Edge League Stuff
Please see below if you have any general questions about the league and what to expect from playing in the Co-Edge Sports League.

Can I sign up as an individual?
Yes. To sign up as an individual, simply click on “Sign Up” located at the top of the page and click on the sport you are interested in. Press the register button at the top of the page and click “Free Agent”.

Once you have filled in your information, we will then place you on a team with other individuals that you will play with for the rest of the season. You will be handled on a first come first served basis. Placement on a team and a spot in the league is subject to available space as well as ensuring the correct male/female ratio is met. We will email you and your team roughly a week before your season starts with all the details.

What if you can’t find a team for me?
If for whatever reason we cannot find a team to place you on, we will first put you on a waiting list in case additional players sign up to create a new team. If we still cannot accommodate, we will fully refund you payment.

What if I would like to be on the same team as my friend?
You will both need to register separately online as an individual. There is a section where you can enter your request to be on an existing team or if you want to be on the same team as your friend/s. Both of you will need to do this so we will know to add you to the same team.

If you forget to add that request during the registration process, please email us at play@co-edge.com to make your request and make sure to include the sport you are playing in.

I want to register a team, how do I do that?
To sign up a team, simply click on “Sign Up” located at the top of the page and select the sport you are interested in. Press the register button at the top of the page and click “Team Captain”. Fill in the form with all the information requested. You will be asked to supply a list of your team roster which you can do by adding the info in the space provided. Remember, in all of our sports, you must have at least 2 females and 2 males on the field/court at all times. Make sure you have enough females and males to accommodate.

Once you have entered your roster, accept the waiver and proceed to the payment section.

Once payment has been successfully submitted, you will receive an onscreen and an e-mail confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation, then you have not successfully registered. If this occurs, please email us at play@co-edge.com.

It’s two weeks before the season starts and no one has contacted me yet. What should I do?
Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you. We usually wait 1 week before the season starts to contact everyone. We find many players wait until the final week before registering. Because of this, we wait until we have everyone signed up and we finish creating the teams and put together the schedules. We will then send you an email with all the details regarding the start of the season.

Can I request specific schedule times and specific gyms/fields?
We do our best to try to even out schedules so that teams have an equitable distribution of game times (indoor leagues) or field locations (outdoor leagues). Unfortunately, this is not always possible.

If you have a specific request (ie. Only games, at Doon Public School, etc.), we will do our best to accommodate you, subject to other requests in your division, and given our permits. These requests must be made at registration. You can add your request in the “Comments” field at the bottom of the registration page. Please note there are no requests for specific times or locations for playoffs.

How do I sign the on-line waiver?
If you have registered as a single player or you have registered a team, by accepting the terms and conditions that is the same as signing our waiver and you won’t need to complete the online waiver.

If you have signed up a team, you will need to have each member of your team complete the online waiver. You will receive a link with your confirmation email that you can forward along to the rest of your team or it can be found by clicking the sport you are registering for and on the left hand side of the page, the very bottom sub link will say “Waiver Form”.Your teammates can click on that link and complete the form.Once the form have been completed, by pressing “Submit” Co-Edge will receive if via email.

If you add a new player to your team after you have registered, they will need to sign the online waiver as well.

What if some of my team can’t show up for a game? Can we call in subs?
Yes you can bring in subs to play but they must be aware of the rules and must sign our online waiver before playing. If some of your players don't show, you can borrow players from a team who has just played however, you can only borrow enough players to reach the minimum requirements to play to avoid default (example: 1 girl 3 guys for Floor Hockey)

How about subs during playoffs?
You can bring in subs for the playoffs only if they have played with you during the regular season. The only exception to this rule is if your team can't get players who have played during the season and you will default because of that, you can bring in subs who haven't played during the season however, you can only bring in enough subs to meet the minimum team requirement (example: 1 girl 3 guys for Floor Hockey).Teams are not allowed to bring in “ringers”.

How can I find out my schedule and what team I am on?
Click on the sport you have signed up for and you will find the season schedule and season standings links on the left-hand side of the page. If you click on “season schedule” for instance, you can scroll down the page and each game and start time is listed for the upcoming weeks.

If you are not sure what team you are on, you can send us an email to play@co-edge.com and we will let you know.

Schedules are sometimes forced to change, usually due to schools being unavailable for a particular night. As soon as we are notified of these changes, we post these changes on the website and will inform your team captain who will need to convey the message to the rest of the team.

Important: if you have bookmarked our site, always press refresh to ensure that you are checking the most updated schedule!

Why did my schedule change?
Schedules are sometimes forced to change, usually due to schools being unavailable for a particular night. As soon as we are notified of these changes, we post these changes on the website. Usually, we have at least one week's warning of these changes, but sometimes we are not notified ourselves until the day of or the day before a schedule change. It is the responsibility of the school and the permit department to inform us of any changes in a timely manner, but this does not always happen. Please bear with us as we have no control over these changes.

In these circumstances when a schedule is forced to change, we also make every effort to personally contact those players affected by the change. We will make a phone call to the team captain, as well as sending an e-mail to all the players that will be affected. This is why it is very important that all roster information is correct and up to date. It is beyond our control to notify players if a) their e-mail address or phone number is not correct; or b) the captain did not register the proper information.

If I have missed the registration deadline what should I do?
Sometimes there are still spots available for teams to even up the division or for individuals to fill up an individual’s team. Please check the website. If registration is still open you will be able to register online even after the deadline. If the spot you want is full then contact us to see if we could take you or put you on a waiting list at play@co-edge.com.

Just leave all of your details and we will get back to you if we need you. Example: jane smith – female – individual – tuesday - volleyball. Day contact # 416–555-5555 x21, e-mail address: janesmith@hotmail.com

What if the other team doesn’t show up?
Unfortunately, defaults are out of our control. Therefore, we cannot give refunds or re-schedule games. The defaulted team will be contacted and given a warning and will lose the match. Teams without opponents are still welcome to utilize the facilities during their scheduled game time, for practice.

What if it is raining, do we still go to our games?
We ask that everyone shows up to the game even if you think it may rain or thunder. Weather can change in an instant. We play rain or shine so be prepared to play in some poor weather conditions at times.

If there is thunder and lightning before the game, we'll wait it out for up to 20 minutes. If it still hasn't cleared up by then the game will be cancelled and each team will receive half points for a tie and full spirit points

If you are playing and thunder and lightning occurs, we will stop the game and wait up to 20 minutes to see if it clears. If the storm has not passed we will cancel the game.

If you have not reached half time and the game is cancelled the score will be listed as a tie. If you have reached half time and then the game gets cancelled, whichever team is winning at that point will be the declared the winner. (However, if both team captains agree that the game should be listed as a tie if the match gets cancelled at any point during the game, that's what will be recorded)

If the field conditions are in bad shape, it will be up to the team captains to decide whether or not they want to play. If it is agreed that the fields are in no shape to play and you cancel the game, the score will be recorded as a tie.

How many times can our team default?
Teams will receive a warning after their first two defaults, and will be ejected from the league (with no refund) if your team defaults a third time.

Can I get contact details for another member or teammate from Co-Edge?

If you have a request to contact another member, we will forward your information, one time only, to that person, and they can choose to respond.

Do you have any links to information specific to the sport I am signed up for (ie. rules, locations)?

FAQ - Dodgeball
What equipment do I need to bring?
Please wear comfortable fitting clothing, running shoes, and waterbottles. We supply all other equipment needed.

I don’t know how to get to the school that our game is being played at.
From our homepage, click on the "Sport" drop down menu. Select the “locations” link from the menu. You will be take to a list of all the schools and fields we are currently playing at for that season. Just click on the location you are looking for and a map will pop up with directions to the venue

What if we’re missing one of our players and can’t field a full team?
For the teams who are late, or can’t field a full team at the scheduled start time, a goal is awarded to the other team for every 5 minutes after the scheduled start time to a maximum of 15 minutes (and three goals). Teams unable to field a complete team more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time automatically forfeit their game.

However, teams may play with the minimum roster which is 6 players (must have at least one player of each gender on the field at all times). This way you don’t have to default your game but you are still penalized for not having the required number of players to play. A team may bring in subs that are not listed on the roster. Subs at any time must not have, or play at, a higher skill level than the player(s) they are replacing.

You may only borrow players from the previous games to prevent your team from defaulting. You cannot add players from a previous game if it increases the number of players on the roster beyond a minimum roster (example 6 players).

Teams may bring in subs for playoff games but these players must have played during the regular season with the team. There is one exception to this rule: Your team is going to default due to a lack of players. In this case, only, new players will be allowed to play but teams may only field a minimum roster (see above).

Further to subs for playoff games: it is each team’s responsibility to NOT bring in “Ringers” – respect your opponent and the league by making it a fair game!

If you recruit a sub, it is your responsibility to ensure they are ready to play, know the rules and have signed the online waiver.

We are short 1 female player. Can we still play?
You are able to play with 1 female and 5 males on the field or 1 male and 5 females but you must have at least one of each gender on the field at any given time. This allows you not to have to default your game but still penalizes you in a way for not having the required ratio of players. Even if you have another spare player to make it a full 7 players, they will have to sit out but can rotate in with the other players.

Can we "borrow" a player from the other team who just played to help give us a full team?
You can borrow players from other teams to play with you but as mentioned above, you can only use these players to help you field a minimum number of players (1 female, 3 males) to prevent from defaulting. You cannot use them to field a full team.

You can find the rules of each sport by clicking on the sport from our homepage and then clicking on “Rules” on the right-hand side of the page. Please familiarize yourself with the rules of the game so that everyone knows ahead of time how the game is played and what is expected.

The other team seems to be aiming for my head? Isn't that illegal?
Yes it definitely is. It will happen from time to time and hopefully by accident and the thrower gets eliminated from that game. However, if you find a player from the other team is becoming overly aggressive and behaving very unsportsmanlike, please inform a Co-Edge representative.

ANY ROUGH OR PHYSICAL PLAY WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM FURTHER LEAGUE PLAY AND MAY RESULT IN LIFETIME LEAGUE EXPULSION. All players should go out of their way to avoid creating an unsafe play. This rule supersedes all others.
FAQ - Indoor Soccer
Do I need to wear cleats and shin guards?
You can definitely wear cleats if you like as long as they are not metal cleats. We strongly recommend that you wear shin guards when playing.

I don’t know how to get to the field/school that our game is being played at.
From our homepage, click on the "Sport" drop down menu. Select the "Locations" link from the menu. You will be taken to a list of all the schools and fields we are currently playing at for that season. Just click on the location you are looking for and a map will pop up with directions to the venue.

Why aren’t there different divisions such as a rec, intermediate, etc.?
Once we secure more locations and have more players and more teams signing up we will be able to offer separate divisions to our members. For now, we ask the question during registration to both our teams and single players signing up whether or not you believe you play at more of a rec level or if you're more of an advanced player. If we have enough interest in both, we will create two separate divisions - 1 with rec to intermediate players and 1 division at the advanced/competitive level.

We are short 1 female player. Can we play with one less player to make it fair?
You are able to play with 1 female but you can only have 3 males on the field with her. This allows you not to have to default your game but still penalizes you in a way for not having the required number of female players. Even if you have another spare male to make it a full 5 players, they will have to sit out but can rotate in with the other males during the game.

If the field conditions are in bad shape, such as pools of water all over the field, the team captains can decide to cancel the game. If this happens, the score will be recorded as a tie. (We recommend cancelling the game if the fields are in poor condition. Playing on them can damage the grass further, leaving it in even worse condition the next time we play).
